How to Care for Your Ball & Burlap Christmas Tree
A Ball & Burlap Christmas Tree can be enjoyed indoors for the holidays and planted outdoors afterward to enjoy all-year round. Just follow these simple steps to keep it healthy and ready for replanting.
Keep it Cool
- Place your tree in the coolest part of the room
- Avoid heat sources like fireplaces, radiators, heating vents, and direct sunlight
- Cool temperatures help prevent drying and stress
Limit Indoor Time
- The shorter the indoor stay, the better its chance of thriving when replanted
- A Ball & Burlap tree should stay indoors no more than 7-10 days
Keep the Root Ball Moist
- Do not remove the Burlap
- the root ball should stay consistently damp, never soaked or dry
- Pour water slowly over the top of the burlap to allow it to absorb evenly
- If placed in a decorative container, make sure excess water can drain out
Use a Protective Tree Stand or Tub
- Place the tree (root ball and all) in a large tub, basket, or sturdy container
- Add a few inches of mulch or shredded bark around the root ball to help retain moisture
Handle with Care
- The root ball is heavy and delicate – lift the tree from the bottom not by the trunk
- Avoid tearing or damaging the burlap
